Boy Scout-O-Rama at the California State Fair
Celebrating the Centennial Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America
SACRAMENTO (July 26, 2010)- This year, the California State Fair and Boys Scouts of America have joined together to honor the 100th anniversary of this nation’s well recognized youth program. Come celebrate the adventurous world of scouting as this one-day jamboree event will take place on the State Fair’s Kids Day on Tuesday, July 27 located in the Bear Plaza from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Boy Scouts of America Day will highlight many aspects of scouting including interactive demonstrations and activities. Among some of the events dedicated to the festivities includes a Pinewood Derby Raceway, a Rain Gutter Regatta, an ideal campsite exhibit and various scouting videos and demonstrations.
Since 1910, more than 100 million people have experienced the excitement and benefits of this organization. Among their most popular themes throughout their 100 years includes high adventure, the Order of the Arrow, duty, honor and most importantly, volunteering. These future leaders will lay the pathway for the next generation to venture out and this year is an opportunity to celebrate one of the nation’s most developed youth programs. As part of their anniversary, the Boy Scout Jamboree will conclude the day with a special centennial stamp unveiling by the United States Post Office.
