Turn ‘Your Passport to Adventure’ into a U.S. Passport
Fairgoers Can Apply For Government Issued Passports at State Fair

SACRAMENTO- (July 23, 2010) Through the partnership between the USPS and the California State Fair, fairgoers get the opportunity to take their adventure overseas by applying and processing their paperwork for a United States passport at the California State Fair.  Experts will be on hand at the Passport Station located near the entrance to the Horse Show and Rodeo Arena to help answer any questions on completing the required paperwork for a United States Passport.  Once a guest’s questions are answered, paperwork filled out and the nominal fee processed, fairgoers can utilize the post office here at the Fair to mail their application for this one-stop adventure-furthering opportunity. 

New passport applicants need to submit Form DS-11 (unsigned).
All the requirements are on the front of the applications.

Proof of U.S. citizenship (provide one of the following)
• Certified U.S. Birth Certificate
• Certificate of Natural Citizenship or Naturalization
• Previous fully valid U.S. passport
• Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
• Proof of identity (provide one of the following)

Current, valid driver's license
• Military ID
• Valid Passport
• Recently issued Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship with easily recognizable photo

For children under the age of 16, the child and both parents, or the legal guardian(s), must appear in person and present the following:
• Evidence of the child's U.S. citizenship
• Evidence of the child's relationship to parents/guardian(s) AND parental/guardian identification

If only one parent appears, you must also submit one of the following:
• Second parent's notarized written statement consenting to passport issuance for the child
• Primary evidence of sole authority to apply
• A written statement (made under penalty of perjury) explaining the second parent's unavailability.
 
Two identical passport photos:
• 2 x 2 inches in size
• Clear likeness, taken within the past six months
• Color required
• Full face, front view on a white of off-white background
• Normal street attire; no hats of headgear
• Select Post Office locations offer passport photo services of an additional $15

Photocopy of Valid Photo ID
• Submit a clear photocopy of the front and back of the valid photo ID that is being presented.

The passport fees for adults eligible to apply by mail using form DS-82, "Application for a U.S. Passport by Mail" are $110 for the passport book and $30 for the passport card.
