Global Fashion Showcase Celebrates Diversity
An Expression of Traditional Clothing and Costume From
Around the Globe

SACRAMENTO (July 20, 2010)- The California State Fair announces its first-ever Global Fashion Showcase!  One of California’s greatest assets, and defining characteristics, is the diversity of the people who call this state home. The showcase will take fairgoers around the world - highlighting different fashions and costumes.

Throughout the day, youth and adult groups representing cultures from Africa to Asia will give presentations explaining different clothing styles from various time periods, fashions, music styles and traditions.  Currently, the schedule of demonstrations includes:

• Austrian/ Bavarian
• East Indian
• Egyptian/ Middle Eastern
• African
• Serbian
• Ukrainian
• Romanian
• Scottish
• and Asian

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 21, 2010.  Participants will be scheduled for a 15-20 minute presentation, in traditional garb, to talk about the history, symbolism and meaning behind their clothing or costume in the Creative Arts Building at Expo Center Building #8.  Groups will also be invited to participate in the evening parade at 6:30 p.m.
