Cal Expo Responds to New Arena Proposals

SACRAMENTO, CA (January 14, 2010) –  Cal Expo officials today provided the following statement in response to the Gerry Kamilos proposal titled, “The Sacramento Convergence,” one of the seven arena proposals expected to be unveiled at the mayor's sports and entertainment facility task force this evening at Sacramento City Hall.

 “Cal Expo remains committed to identifying a redevelopment solution for its fairgrounds and event facility.  We are intrigued by the proposals expected to be presented this evening and are receptive to exploring any and all ideas that would achieve that mission of redevelopment. 

 The Cal Expo Board of Directors and its Real Estate Committee will thoroughly review the new proposals and provide the proposers, the NBA and the State of California with our feedback, after we have had sufficient time to study the plans in detail, and determine if they are in the best interest of Cal Expo and the California State Fair.”
